Disgraced Ex-football Boss Rubiales Attacked with Eggs at Book Debut

Luis Rubiales’ memoir presentation spiraled into chaos when his own uncle hurled eggs at him during a small book event in Spain.

Sitting on a low stage while introducing his 500-page memoir Killing Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish soccer federation spun around to avoid the projectiles, one of which exploded on the screen behind him.

Rubiales later told reporters he initially feared the man—whom he recognized as a troubled relative—might be armed.

The book recounts his dramatic fall from power after kissing Jenni Hermoso during the 2023 Women’s World Cup medal ceremony, a moment he still argues was consensual and part of a conspiracy against him involving political and social forces.

However, a Spanish court found him guilty of sexual assault earlier this year, adding a legal verdict to a scandal that continues to shadow him.
