The World Is Entering a New Era of Billionaire Growth

The global billionaire population is expected to grow significantly over the next five years, with projections suggesting the total could reach nearly 4,000 by 2031.

According to analysis by Knight Frank, there are currently 3,110 billionaires worldwide, and that number is forecast to rise by around 25% to approximately 3,915.

The growth reflects what experts describe as an acceleration in wealth creation, particularly driven by the expansion of technology sectors such as artificial intelligence. The ability to scale businesses more quickly in the digital era has contributed to the rapid rise in high-net-worth individuals.

This trend extends beyond billionaires. The number of people with wealth exceeding $30 million has increased sharply, rising from about 162,000 in 2021 to more than 700,000 today.

Regional shifts are also expected, with Asia-Pacific projected to overtake North America as the largest hub for billionaire wealth by 2031.

At the same time, the concentration of wealth remains highly uneven. Previous global studies have shown that a small fraction of the population controls a disproportionately large share of total wealth, underscoring ongoing debates around inequality and economic distribution.
