Who Is John Ternus, Apple’s Incoming CEO?
Apple has named longtime executive John Ternus as its next CEO, marking a major leadership transition at the world’s most valuable company.
Ternus, who currently serves as senior vice president of hardware engineering, will take over the role starting September 1, succeeding Tim Cook, who has led Apple since 2011.
Ternus has spent around 25 years at Apple, joining the company in 2001 as part of its product design team.
Over the years, he rose through the ranks, becoming a vice president in 2013 and later joining Apple’s executive team in 2021.
In his current role, he has overseen the development of some of Apple’s most important products, including the iPhone, Mac, AirPods, and newer innovations such as the Apple Vision Pro.
His appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Apple, as the company faces increasing pressure to expand its capabilities in artificial intelligence.
Analysts say Ternus’ background in hardware could shape the company’s direction, particularly in how physical devices integrate with emerging AI technologies.
As he steps into the role, Ternus will be expected to build on Apple’s growth under Cook while guiding the company through its next phase of innovation.
