Trump on Fox: “We’ll Blockade and Deny Iran Nuclear Weapons

In an interview with Fox News, President Donald Trump said the United States is preparing to impose a blockade as part of its strategy against Iran.

Trump indicated the blockade would take time to fully implement but described it as an effective measure to control maritime activity, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.

He also revealed that recent negotiations with Iranian representatives lasted 21 hours, involving senior figures including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, but ultimately failed to reach agreement on what he described as the most critical issue: Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

“They want to have nuclear weapons. They’re not going to have nuclear weapons,” Trump said, emphasizing that preventing Iran from obtaining such weapons remains his top priority.

Trump added that while progress had been made on most negotiation points, Iran’s refusal to abandon its nuclear program remains the central obstacle.

He also expressed frustration with NATO, criticizing the alliance for not providing earlier support, though noting that some allies are now seeking to assist in securing maritime trade routes.

Despite the breakdown in talks, Trump suggested negotiations could resume, predicting Iran may eventually return to the table and agree to U.S. demands.
