Senator Coons Says U.S. Didn’t Fully Consult Congress on Venezuela Policy
Senator Chris Coons criticized the administration’s handling of U.S. policy toward Venezuela, saying it failed to be truthful and forthcoming with Congress. Coons acknowledged that Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro is under indictment in the United States and said his rendition was legal, but argued lawmakers were not properly briefed, consulted, or asked for approval. He called for a constructive conversation moving forward to stabilize and secure the Venezuelan Colombian border and strengthen U.S. Colombia relations.
