How Trump’s Favorite $145 Shoes Spread Around Washington
A classic American dress shoe brand has found itself at the center of an unexpected trend in Washington.
According to reporting by The Wall Street Journal, President Donald Trump has been gifting pairs of Florsheim dress shoes to advisers, cabinet officials and other figures in his political circle. The shoes, which often cost around $145, have quietly become a recognizable item among some members of the administration and its allies.
Trump has reportedly asked people about their shoe size and later arranged for a pair to be sent to them, sometimes in a Florsheim box delivered to the White House.
Several officials, political figures and media personalities have received the shoes, and some have been seen wearing them during meetings or events around the president.
The brand itself has a long history in American fashion. Florsheim was founded in 1892 in Chicago by Sigmund Florsheim and his son Milton. Over the decades, the company built a reputation for classic leather dress shoes and expanded through branded stores across the United States.
Florsheim footwear has been worn by U.S. presidents, soldiers during both world wars, and well-known entertainers.
Today the brand operates under Weyco Group, a Wisconsin-based footwear company that distributes several shoe brands.
