Trump Says China Reassured on Hormuz Access Amid Talks

Donald Trump said he reassured Xi Jinping that access through the Strait of Hormuz would be restored, as diplomatic efforts continue alongside ongoing U.S. maritime enforcement operations near Iran.

The comments followed reports that a U.S. naval blockade has limited shipping traffic linked to Iranian oil exports, affecting regional energy routes used by several countries, including China.

Officials say at least one Chinese-linked tanker was turned back during enforcement operations, underscoring the economic impact of the maritime restrictions while negotiations continue.

At the same time, intelligence concerns remain under review in Washington regarding possible Chinese weapons transfers to Iran, though Trump said Xi assured him Beijing is not supplying arms.

The developments come ahead of a planned meeting between the two leaders in Beijing next month, where regional security and shipping access through the Strait of Hormuz are expected to be key topics.
