Trump Orders Hormuz Blockade After Iran Talks Fail

President Donald Trump has ordered the U.S. Navy to begin blockading the Strait of Hormuz following the collapse of high-level negotiations between U.S. and Iranian officials in Pakistan. The talks ended without agreement on Iran’s nuclear program despite progress on other issues, marking a major escalation in regional tensions.

The administration says the blockade is intended to counter Iran’s efforts to control shipping through the strategic waterway, including reported transit tolls imposed on vessels moving through the strait. U.S. naval forces are expected to intercept ships linked to those payments and ensure safe passage through international waters.

Officials also confirmed U.S. forces are working to clear Iranian naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz as part of efforts to reopen one of the world’s most critical energy corridors.

President Trump warned that any attack on U.S. forces or commercial vessels would trigger a decisive response as military pressure increases following the breakdown of negotiations.
