Trump Issues 48-Hour Ultimatum on Hormuz
President Donald Trump has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran, demanding the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz or facing direct U.S. military strikes.
Trump warned that the United States is prepared to target Iran’s power infrastructure, including major power plants, if the critical shipping route is not reopened “fully, without threat.” The warning marks a significant escalation in Operation Epic Fury, expanding potential targets to include key civilian-linked infrastructure.
The president said U.S. forces are “very close” to achieving their military objectives in the campaign. Those objectives include destroying Iran’s missile capabilities and launch systems, which U.S. officials say pose a direct threat to American forces and regional allies.
Additional goals outlined by the administration include dismantling Iran’s defense industrial base, weakening its navy and air force, and preventing any future nuclear weapons capability.
The operation also aims to secure U.S. allies and maintain stability across key global energy routes, particularly as tensions remain high around the Strait of Hormuz.
