Trump Extends Iran Ceasefire Pending Unified Proposal

President Donald Trump says the United States is extending its ceasefire with Iran following a request from Pakistani leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, as diplomatic efforts continue toward a broader agreement.

Trump said the extension allows time for Iran’s leadership to present what he described as a unified proposal, while U.S. military forces will maintain the existing naval blockade and remain prepared for further action if negotiations do not succeed.

Officials say Pakistan has played a central mediating role in efforts to sustain the ceasefire and facilitate additional talks between Washington and Tehran as the original truce deadline approached.

Despite the extension, uncertainty remains over whether negotiations will produce a final agreement, and U.S. officials have signaled military options remain available if diplomacy fails.

The ceasefire extension comes as tensions continue across the region and both sides weigh next steps toward either a settlement or renewed confrontation.
