Trump Announces Two-Week Hormuz Ceasefire Window

President Trump says the United States will suspend planned military strikes on Iran for two weeks after discussions with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, who urged a pause to allow diplomacy to continue. The pause is tied to Iran agreeing to the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route.

Trump described the move as part of a “double-sided ceasefire” framework and said U.S. military objectives tied to recent pressure on Iran have already been met. He also confirmed the United States received a 10-point proposal from Iran that officials believe could serve as the basis for a broader agreement.

Administration officials say the two-week window is intended to finalize negotiations toward a longer-term regional security arrangement, with Trump stating the talks could help move the Middle East closer to a durable peace framework if remaining issues are resolved.
