Major developments are unfolding in Operation Epic Fury as tensions with Iran escalate sharply around the Strait of Hormuz.
President Donald Trump is warning Iran it has 48 hours to fully reopen the critical shipping route or face direct U.S. strikes on major power infrastructure, marking one of the strongest escalation signals so far.
Global energy markets are reacting immediately. Brent crude has surged above $105 a barrel, as roughly 20 percent of the world’s oil supply that passes through the Strait of Hormuz remains under threat.
Iran is also expanding its military posture, with reports pointing to long-range missile capabilities extending up to 4,000 kilometers. At the same time, Israel continues intensive strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, keeping pressure on the northern front.
Across the Gulf, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are increasing air defense readiness and coordinating with U.S. forces to protect energy infrastructure and shipping lanes, though they have not committed combat forces. Qatar continues to support U.S. basing and logistics operations, while Kuwait is reinforcing internal security.
In Europe, governments including the United Kingdom and France are supporting maritime security planning around Hormuz, but limiting their role to defensive naval coordination rather than offensive operations.
