Morgan Freeman vs. AI Clones: The New Hollywood Fight

Morgan Freeman is issuing one of his strongest warnings yet about artificial intelligence, calling out the growing wave of unauthorized AI voice clones that imitate his signature narration.

Speaking to The Guardian, the 88-year-old actor said AI systems are recreating his voice without permission, prompting his legal team to work “very, very busy” taking down fake ads and impersonations online.

Freeman has been raising alarms since 2024, when fans alerted him to AI-generated commercials using a voice strikingly similar to his own. His criticism places him at the center of Hollywood’s broader battle over AI, a debate that intensified after last year’s actors’ and writers’ strikes, where digital likeness protection became a central issue.

Stars such as Scarlett Johansson have fought against AI clones of their speech, while others like Matthew McConaughey have licensed AI versions legally, highlighting a sharp divide in the industry.
