Johnson: ‘We’re Not at War’ With Iran

House Speaker Mike Johnson said Republicans oppose advancing a War Powers resolution as U.S. military operations continue against Iran. Speaking at a GOP leadership news conference, Johnson argued that such a measure would undermine American forces and limit the commander in chief during what he described as a targeted mission.

Johnson stated that Iran has recently attacked U.S. embassies, calling them sovereign American territory, but maintained that the United States is not formally at war. He described the current military action as a limited and defined operation known as Operation Epic Fury, now several days underway.
