Jeffries Warns Against Iran Regime Change War

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said today that pursuing regime change in Iran would risk repeating past U.S. conflicts that cost American lives without delivering lasting stability. Speaking at a Democratic leadership news conference, Jeffries cautioned against escalating the ongoing U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict into a broader war aimed at toppling Tehran’s government.

Jeffries said he has seen no evidence that the United States faced an imminent threat from Iran and argued that Congress must uphold its constitutional authority if the conflict is being described as a war. He pointed to past regime change efforts in Vietnam and Iraq as examples of costly and prolonged military engagements.
