Is the US Moving Closer to War with Iran?

The United States is closer to a major war with Iran than most realize, with a massive military buildup and faltering nuclear talks pointing toward imminent action, Axios reported.

Two aircraft carriers, a dozen warships, hundreds of fighter jets including F-35s and F-22s, and multiple air defense systems are now in the Middle East, supported by over 150 military cargo flights delivering weapons and ammunition.

Trump’s advisers Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff met with Iran’s foreign minister in Geneva on Tuesday, but despite both sides claiming “progress,” U.S. officials say the gaps remain wide.

Vice President Vance told Fox News that Iran is unwilling to acknowledge Trump’s red lines.

Israeli officials tell Axios they are preparing for war within days, pushing for regime change. One Trump adviser said: “The boss is getting fed up. Some people around him warn him against going to war with Iran, but I think there is 90% chance we see kinetic action in the next few weeks.”

Senator Lindsey Graham suggested strikes could still be weeks away, but others warn the timeline could be shorter.

Last June, Trump set a two-week deadline for talks—three days later, he launched Operation Midnight Hammer against major Iranian nuclear sites.

With the same clock ticking and overwhelming force in place, all signs point to Trump pulling the trigger if diplomacy fails.
