Iran’s New Leader Missing From Public View

Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is alive but has not been seen publicly since taking power.

State television confirmed Monday that he was wounded during the war, though it provided no details on the injury or when it occurred.

A source told The Jerusalem Post that Mojtaba remains capable of carrying out his duties. But days after his installation, no photograph or video of the leader has been released—fueling speculation among opposition groups and observers.

Critics question who is actually running the government. Mojtaba has long been a powerful behind-the-scenes figure, close to the IRGC and his father, the late Ali Khamenei, but never held formal office.

Now, as the public face of the regime, his invisibility raises uncomfortable questions: Is he too injured to appear? Or is someone else exercising real authority? For a leadership built on public image, the silence is deafening.
