Newest French Citizen: George Clooney Granted Citizenship with His Family
George Clooney, along with his wife Amal and their eight-year-old twins, has officially been granted French citizenship, as confirmed by a decree in France’s government journal.
The actor, who is already a dual US-Italian citizen, had hinted at this move earlier in December, praising France’s robust privacy laws that protect his family from paparazzi, particularly noting the absence of photographers at his children’s school.
The Clooney family, who own a historic wine estate in southern France purchased in 2021, also maintain homes in Italy’s Lake Como, England, New York, and Kentucky, but have reportedly sold properties in Los Angeles and Mexico.
Clooney expressed that despite their global travels, their French home is where they are happiest, cementing a long-standing attachment to Europe that complements his wife Amal’s fluency in French and his own appreciation for French culture.
