Five possible figures Trump Might be Talking to in Iran

Following three weeks of the intense Israeli-U.S. war against Iran, President Donald Trump has revealed that a highly respected “top person” within the Iranian leadership is engaging in back-channel talks with the United States.

While Trump has kept the individual’s identity confidential to protect them from potential targeting, geopolitical analysts have narrowed the field to five key figures.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Parliament Speaker with deep Revolutionary Guard ties, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who reportedly has “direct communication” with U.S. envoys, are seen as the frontrunners.

Other possibilities include the moderate President Pezeshkian, the shadowy Quds Force leader Esmail Ghaani, or the new Revolutionary Guards Commander Ahmad Vahidi.

As the war continues to decapitate Iran’s traditional leadership, this mystery negotiator may be the last line of diplomacy left to prevent total escalation.
