FBI Warned Iran Could Strike California with Drones

Before the U.S. and Israel launched their massive bombardment of Iran, the FBI issued a confidential warning: Iran may try to strike back on American soil.

A security bulletin obtained by Reuters, sent to law enforcement through the Los Angeles Joint Regional Intelligence Center, stated that as of early February, Iran “aspired” to launch a surprise drone attack from a sea vessel against targets in California—if the U.S. struck first.

Now the war is in its 13th day. Iran’s supreme leader and top officials are dead. U.S. soldiers have been killed in Kuwait.

But President Trump told reporters he’s not worried about attacks on the homeland. California Governor Gavin Newsom said he’s not aware of any “imminent threats.”

The FBI bulletin offered no timing, method, or perpetrators. A Homeland Security threat assessment said a large-scale physical strike is unlikely, but targeted attacks are possible.
