BYD & KFC Launch 9-Minute EV “Feed and Fuel” Drive-Thrus

Chinese EV leader BYD has teamed up with Yum China’s KFC to revolutionize the charging experience by launching a nationwide network of “nine-minute” drive-thrus.

This partnership leverages BYD’s groundbreaking second-generation Blade battery, which is capable of achieving a 97% charge in just nine minutes, effectively matching the time it takes to pick up a fast-food meal.

To streamline the process, BYD is integrating a smart ordering system into its vehicle cockpits—debuting with the Fangchengbao Ti7 SUV—allowing drivers to locate participating KFCs and place orders via the car’s interface.

With 5,000 flash charging stations already operational and a goal of 20,000 by the end of 2026, BYD is aggressively tackling “charging anxiety” by turning a logistical hurdle into a convenient pit stop.
