Arctic Blast Triggers Mass Flight Cancellations Across the United States

A powerful Arctic blast plunging south out of Canada is triggering dangerous winter weather and widespread flight cancellations across large parts of the United States. Airlines have already canceled nearly 15,000 flights nationwide through Monday, according to FlightAware, with thousands more cancellations expected through Sunday and into early next week. Major disruptions are centered at key airport hubs including Chicago, Detroit, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, Atlanta, and Dallas Fort Worth. Officials warn that heavy snow, crippling ice, and extreme wind chills are making runway operations unsafe, grounding aircraft and stranding passengers nationwide. Forecasters say the worst conditions will persist through Sunday night, with gradual improvement beginning late Monday, though lingering delays could stretch into Tuesday.
