Suspect in 1982 Paris Attack Extradited After 44 Years

After forty-four years of investigation and legal hurdles, Hicham Harb, a 72-year-old suspected of coordinating the 1982 terrorist attack on the Jo Goldenberg restaurant in Paris, has been extradited to France.

The assault, which targeted the historically Jewish Marais neighborhood, resulted in the deaths of six people and left 22 others wounded after a group of men used grenades and machine guns to attack diners. Harb, who also goes by the name Mahmoud Khader Abed Adra, was apprehended by Palestinian authorities in late 2025, shortly after France officially recognized the State of Palestine.

This diplomatic shift paved the way for President Mahmoud Abbas to grant the extradition request as a gesture of cooperation and commitment to fighting global terrorism.

Harb is now in French custody and is expected to stand trial alongside other suspects linked to the Abu Nidal Organization, finally offering the victims’ families a chance at closure for a crime that has haunted the city for decades.
